for 100$ at the store add on 20% coupon and its like 80$ are there any better ideas? it will only be used lightly. but there's times when i could ave really used one.

If you can buy this sander new for $80.00, that's money well spent. I've had the same sander for 2 years or so. I don't use it every day but when I use it, it performs exactly as I had hoped. If you buy it, I'd get the assortment of different grit sanding sleeves, also. You'll enjoy using this tool.

I have the older Ryobi made one. The only difference in them is my table is slightly larger than the HF. When I need it it is extremly usefull and it works just fine. I think for the price it is of decent quality for home shop use.

For a new one, you will not beat that price. If you had more budget, you would have more options.

Here's the same OSS in a different color for nearly twice the price that you said you can get the one from your local HF:

I don't know of any other OSS that you can get for $80.00. As Adam points out, you can't beat it in that price range. IMO, this sander is one of the HF "gems" for the small shop. I've used mine when building some nice pieces of furniture.

I'd suggest that you get it while the getting is good!

that is a great price, and probably can't be beat for light use... but I'll over up another option for consideration

The Ridgid functions as an oscillating spindle and belt sander. I wanted the spindle feature and went with this unit thinking the belt would be nice to have.... I've used the belt more than the spindle so far.

It is however about $100 more than the unit you are looking at.

Ridgid's got my vote. Larger table that you can tilt, heavier, dust collection, the oscillating belt is awesome. I hardly use the drums anymore. Better warranty... Yes, it's $200 bucks, but it's worth it. One of my favorite tools.
