Wooden Boat School grads?

Hoping to find a Wooden Boat Grad in North Carolina. I'm thinking of taking one of the boatbuilding courses they offer this summer but haven't made up my mind.

I'd like to talk with another person who attended the school. Send word if you have any experience with the school.

Hi Dan,

I assume you are referring to the Wooden Boat School located in Brooklin, Maine. It is a first class operation. I attended a few years ago and took the "Fundamentals of Boat Building" course. It was two weeks long and I enjoyed every minute of it. I'll be going back next year for the "Cold Molding" course. I encourage you to go. I do not think you will regret it.

Or maybe your talking about the Landing School in Arundel, Maine. I am a 2007 wooden boat graduate. It is a 10 1/2 month course and is about as good as they get.

I made a summer of it one year in Brooklyn ME. I took 6 courses including fundamentals, lofting, marine surveying, craft of sail and others. After they were done I stayed as a shop assistant for the rest of the summer. It is a fantastic place. not only the school and woodennboat magazine offices but just that area of the Maine coast.
The shop facilities are excellent and even the food (I stayed at the school) was great.
The best part was meeting and getting to know some of the most talented people in the business. I took marine surveying with Giffy Full and he is the best. He surveyed the USS Constitution before its major refit years ago. Greg Rossel was my lofting instructor. What a character. I met Joel and Steve White. Eric Dow, Mac McCarthy. all of them great at what they do.
I highly recommend the school.
