I just finished my daughter's birthday present. It's a maple and cherry jewelry box I saw in a recent issue of WOOD mag. Finish is shellac and wax.

While not perfect, she likes it and I'm glad it's completed on time for a change. Hope you like it.

Nicely done. I'm sure anyone would be happy to receive that gift. Just wait till that Cherry darkens. The color contract will be outstanding.

Thanks for sharing.

Great looking box Bob. Isn't it great when a kid actually enjoys something hand made. Made a jewelry box for my best friends daughter last year. Although not as nice as yours, still had some heart and soul in it. It was highly overlooked by the new bike and dolls. But I am sure she will enjoy it more in a few years.

Bob, great combination of woods, and I really like the undulating projections on the front. They really add visual appeal. You did some nice work on overall execution of this piece, and finished out the drawers in grand fashion.

Nice piece! I know you will score big points with this one, and being on time is a real plus for a birthday gift!;)

Very cool indeed - nicely done! Looks tedious making all those little compartments and they look great.

For your daughter.........priceless:).

The design is incredible. I really like the random curves... That's one of those pieces where you walk into the room, notice it right away and walk over to check it out.

Thanks for all the nice comments- you guys are great.

Interestingly enough, the dividers were the easiest part. A drum sander made it easy to make cherry pieces the thickness of my TS blade. Then a quick build of a small mdf TS sled and a few runs through the saw and they were done. 2 coats of spray shellac and done! I left them removable to allow easy cleaning of the velvet.
