I wanted to pass along an attaboy to Rockler.
I bought the Excelsior variable speed mini lathe 15 months ago. In November (just after the one year warranty) The lathe began to have trouble holding a speed. I don't mean it slowed under load, I mean it went up and down and up and down. According to its own tach, it would rev up or slow by 200-500 rpm.
A friend is an electrical tech, and he tweaked the pots for me and got it going again. He warned me that it would be ok for a while but would need tweaked periodically as this would happen again as the circuit board aged.
It started again last week. I called Rockler today. Since they no longer carry that product (they dropped it within 5 months of my purchase) they offered me a refund or credit toward a new lathe.
That's spectacular customer service!
Mods: please move/remove this if needed.
