Is anyone out there familiar with the Short Stop brand of electronic motor brakes? We had some installed on a few tools in our old shop. When we moved, most of those tools went to surplus. Now we are trying to install one on a Baldor motor on a Laguna tablesaw, but it does not seem to be working. Is there something I should know about Baldor motors that makes them immune to the electronic brake. I don't understand all the details, but the brake works by feeding DC current into the motor on shutdown, stopping the blade in about one revolution.

Not much to go on, but I doubt there's anything special about the new motor. Likely causes:
1. Power (voltage, phase) mismatch between the brake model and the new motor
2. Miswired
3. Blown fuses in the brake

They've got a web site with manuals and wiring diagrams, might start there:

It should work if connected properly. Note that the kinetic energy of the motion, including the energy in the rotating blade, is converted to heat. If you start and stop the saw too often, the motor will overheat.
