Ok i was previously in a LTR relationship with my now X-fiance and her two kids.Damn i miss the kids. Anyway i came home from work and found her with her X. that was the end of that i was done and never looked back.

One week later i met the current GF its now been a month and a half she has helped me get on the road to getting my GED and has been really supportive in starting my business. And building my shop in the garage.

I would like to build her something for valentines day out of wood. Preferably Sweet gum as i have 500BF of it. I just can not come up with a project any ideas?

Band saw boxes are always one-of-a-kind and very special.

wish i had a bandsaw.

I did pick up some spalted white oak amd some nice cypress heartwood for a jewelry box for her. Plus got a nice piece of 8/4 hard maple about 4 foot long and 9" inches wide to make a crosscut sled

One thing about jewelry boxes . . . . I made a wall hanging necklace cabinet (http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=42042) for LOML and I have been buying necklaces for special occasions ever since ;-)

In my experience, if you're going to give a jewelery box, make sure there's something IN it too....

Shawn makes a very good point!

Also, you might want to check out The Wood Whisperer site. He recently posted a video demonstrating how to make a very cool little box with a sliding top.

In my experience, if you're going to give a jewelery box, make sure you can afford to fill it up....

Fixed it for accuracy.:eek::D

LOL on the ball and chain. I wore that with the X-fiance. Im free on this one. Actually picked up some nicely figured cypress and some spalted white oak. To make a jewelry box
