Has anyone ever used peanut oil for a finish. I use walnut oil mostly but was wondering if there was any difference with peanut oil.

Joe my neighbor who turns tried some and it went rancid on him. I use Mahoney's walnut oil as I had some walnut oil from a health food store go rancid on me.

Have to agree with Bernie, most cooking oil will go rancid over time. Temps that it is stored in will make a big difference. I have used mineral oil on maple spoons and such with good results. They do have to be recoated from time to time.

I agree on the rancid issue. I use peanut oil to deep fry turkeys and I know it doesn't last too long before it goes bad.
