Hi,

I'm hoping I can find some fellow woodworkers in the San Francisco area that can point me to some of the better lumber yards. I have mostly been going to Macbeaths in Bayview but I find it pretty expensive. Is there another palce that someone can recommend? I'd be happy driving farther for better deals. I would be looking for both hardwoods and plys.

Thanks in advance,

Elia

My favorite is way south in Watsonville:

Good lumber, prices, etc.

I wish there were more in Silicon Valley, etc. but I have yet to find anything that isn't ridiculously expensive such as Southern Lumber in San Jose. All very overpriced S4S stuff that needs re-milling anyway.

I find Macbeath in SFO, SJ quiet good with selection and prices. PALS is also quite good with some specials.

There is a Bay Area Woodworkers Association that has a useful page covering local resources including lumber here: http://www.bayareawoodworkers.org/resources/resources.html
