I have just finished turning my first natural edge bowl out of pine.I am wondering what is the best finish for this? Should I try to keep any finish off the bark that is on the edge?

Thanks for the replys

I use 2-3 coats of Minwax wipe on poly. If it is too shiney the gloss can be degraded with 0000 wool

I've always used lacquer on all my Natural Edged pieces, IIRC. Don't worry about getting it on the bark.
I always apply CA glue to the Bark and the cambium layer, to insure the bark stays on.
Sometimes I guess it wouldn't be needed, but I'm not that sure of which type of bark has a tendency to stay on, and which has a tendency to come loose.

I've used oil for all the ones I've done. I use a brush to get the bark when necessary.

I use Minwax Antique oil on all mine. I soak the whole bowl bark and all.
