Commission job from Swmbo, to replace a little maple one we have. I had the NYW plan since last spring. Started Jan 5th, just got last coat of lacquer sprayed on the walnut bench today.

Very nice project. I love walnut and this project really showcases it's beauty.

Did you make the arms and supports or did you buy them separate?

Very nice. I just watched that episode a few weeks ago. I think norm used cherry. I really like the bookmatched panels on the backrest.

Very nice bench. I really like the detail cut on the rails and stiles. Are the panels solid or did you use plywood?

Nice work! Very good grain matching/bookmatching on the panels - I take it they are glueups?

Great job on the turnings and arms, and nice finish, too. What lacquer are you using?

Very nice bench. I really like the detail cut on the rails and stiles. Are the panels solid or did you use plywood?I resawed the 9.5" wide 1" thick ruff stock in half, got just enough to plane them to 5/16" as per the NYW plan. My band saw has only 9.75" resaw capacity, it was tight going!

lou ordered the plan online from New Yankee Workshop. Very accurate plan on a large sheet of paper, no instructions though.

Since all my ruff stock is 3/4"-1" ruff I doubled for the arm rests, 3 pcs for the legs. I got most of the walnut for $2 bd ft because a lot was under 1". I may have $200 in it. Approx 60-70 bd ft needed + waste. I used a post cat lacquer for more durability,ML Campbells DuraVar Plus™ (http://www.mlcampbell.com/products/categories/clear_topcoats/solvent_borne/postcatalyzed/duravar_plus) in semi gloss. I had enough left over from the 4 poster bed project. I use a air assist airless in the shop, hardly any over-spray.
Panels made from full width stock.

As already noted several times here.. excellent job on every phase of the finished project. The walnut does have a nice, warm glow and it should be a high-light in your hall.

Well done indeed...
