Hi all. I was hoping tap in to the SMC expertise pool. Can any one provide details on a Framar s45 bandsaw. Google failed me. Its an 18" saw, 220v 9.1 a. It appears to have a 10.5" resaw capacity. I know minimax has an s45 bandsaw, are these the same machine?

Thanks in advance

Ryan

The current MM s45N bandsaw is a 18" with 12" resaw. It's very possible that an earlier version had 10.5" resaw.

I couldn't get the link to work, but the older minimax s45's only have 10.5 of cutting height.

Spoke to MiniMax Canada today, and they indicated that it was not their saw. Acorrding to the rep, the "s45" designation refers to a 45cm wheel, and is pretty typical for the labelling on European bandsaws. That being said, there are a lot of similarities between this saw and the minimar s45N pictured on their website. Checked out the Framar website (can't believe google failed me that badly). It seems that they are making exclusively radial arm saws and mortising machines now, but fired them an e-mail and will wait and see what they have to say.
