I'm in Charleston for a couple of days. Any ideas where I can go to look at older planes that are for sale or neat woodworking locales? Thanks!

I lived there for five years. There's not much to be found. The Woodcraft closed a few years ago. There are a few antique malls in Mt. Pleasant that might yield a few items. They are usually overpriced, though so be careful.
Wish I had better news about it. I always thought there should be more available there. With the fine woodworking that was once so prevalent, you would expect to find more.
Who knows, maybe you can find a good stash I was never lucky enough to stumble on.

Kevin,

Drop me a line I am a lifelong resident and have bunches for sale. By the way I was originally from north east MO.
