This is made from some spalted english walnut with a black walnut rim. The pewter lid is from craftsupplies. It's about 5.5" x 2.5"

John this is english walnut and David I get most of my wood locally from either the green waste dump, construction sites that I frequent for my job, or from seeing someone take out a tree in their yard. English walnut is a fairly common yard tree around here so I probably got this from the dump.

Curt,

Thats a really nice piece and the walnut is beautiful. Have you considered making your own lid ? If you have a scroll saw the possibilities would be endless.
