This bowl was one of the free blanks that came with the hackberry one. It is 4-1/2" dia. x 2-1/2" h. and a pretty consistent thickness. I made an undercut rim with this one as well, and can confirm that it works very well with M&M's. ;) This one had some small bugs attack it, but they left clean holes with a little staining. I was unfamiliar with tupelo wood, so I did a little research, and found that it is mainly used for carving, especially decoys. All I know is it turned like butter. :)

Did you make this one 'cause the m&m's were falling thru the last one?:D

Another good one.

Brian, I like the look of the wood - kind of has a soft, mellow and aged look to it. Very nice!

At this point, are you turning bowls to feed the photography addiction??!:D

Nice pics!!

That's a very nice shape, Brian, and very professionally done. I hope it doesn't end up hurting your waistline holding those M&M's. :)

Another nice one Brian. The bug holes really add a lot of character. What finish did you use on this one?

Nice pics!!

No, no. No addiction there. Actually I haven't bought any major photo equipment in 5 or 6 years. While the new(er) Canon 50d looks nice, I couldn't get enough from selling my current 10d body to offset the price. It is a shame how much equipment loses value these days. I just sold a canon film camera the other day for $27 on flea bay. It was $400 new, 15 years ago. I did look up my 10d - $200 to $300. A new body will set me back at least $1000. Oh well, there's always next year.

Rob, I put 3 coats of danish oil on it. I really like how the oil brings out the character of the light wood. After letting it cure a week or so, I buffed it with all 3 wheels of the Beall system.

looking good, be sure not to use mini M&M's cause it looks like they'll leak right through.

No, no, no... Only full size, with peanuts inside. :D
