Does anyone know of a source for engravable lapel pins? JDS sells some engravable key chains, black coating that engraves gold or brass, and I'm looking for lapel pins similar to those.

Otherwise I have some other options in mind.

I've done a search thru Google and ebay with no results.

Thanks for any help.

I have never heard of them but does not mean that they are not out there. It will be interesting to see if there is such an animal, could be a great addition.

You can make your own then buy the pin clasp at Michael's or on line.

Making my own is one of the options I'm considering, but I'd like to see if something more substantial is available.

I've got some patterns made up to use on Rowmark or Flexibrass in case I can't find anything elsewhere.

This is an ideal application for doming.

Mike, doming? With a laser?

Doming would be an application done after lasering the material on which the image is engraved.

If you do a search for doming I think you'll find some photos.

Ok, I understand now.

Thanks Mike.

Classic Medallics has the pins for engraving. See page 19 in their academic catalog.

Chuck, good call. I received a reply back from the sales rep this morning. They have a very nice round diamond cut pin with a laserable black center.

Thanks. Glad I could help. I believe that part number to be BR539. It is a nice pin and should work for you.

Other possibilities: The BR78 comes in 4 different colors. I have also used the BR49, BR366, and BR532 (middle of page 19 of the Academic Catalog). For those customers wanting something different than what the BR78's have to offer, I have cut out and engraved centers using either the Spectra Lights or the Flexi Brass.
