How do you use this honing stone?

I'd like to see the stone from the pointed end. Any sickle sharpening I have seen or done has been with a long oval shaped stone. Mighten it be for sharpening gauges?
How long is it? How coarse or fine is the stone?
I just love a mystery.

We used to collect green and red handled kitchen utensils that were popular in the thirties and forties. What you have there is knife sharpener that would have been found the the kitchen drawer back then.
