I have been working on this sideboard for quite a while and I just finished it today. It is made from Brazilian Cherry. I used mortise and loose tenon joinery which worked out real well. The finish is two coats of BLO and four coats of wipe-on poly.

The picture of the top shows the true color of the sideboard.

LOML is very happy that I got it finished before Thanksgiving.

Beautiful workmanship Ralph. Did you design the piece yourself?

Ralph, beautiful wood and very nicely done! :) So, the dovetails done by hand or machine? Either way, it looks great! Was this a design of your own creation or plan?

Looks like an heirloom to me! A question, however: I can't tell from the pictures if those are dovetails or finger joints on the drawers. They sure add to the interest of the front view. I like it!

Absolutely beautiful Ralph. You've created a family heirloom that will likely see use by several generations.

I appreciate all the comments.

I used finger joints for the drawers and I did design this sideboard myself.

The most difficult part of the assembly was figuring out how to get all 16 slats into the 32 mortises while the glue was still usable.

I also made some special jigs to make the finger joints and the mortises for this project that will be usable on other projects
