Welcome to SawMill Creeks newest forum, a special place to discuss woodlathes and accessories, projects, tips and tricks. This forum is automatically included in the "New Posts" feature of SMC so all new threads will be available to our entire membership for viewing when they use the new posts feature of our software.

Thanks, Keith! I do the "New Posts" route anyway, and that's actually how I found the new threads here! :)

Whoa,

Chris and John running neck and neck. Maybe we should have a pool on what number they'll be at on 12/31.

As a budding turner, I'll be interested to see how much attention this forum gets. I'll kind of miss the interplay with the flatlanders though.

Wish I had something just finished to post, but LOML has had me doing "flat board" work and my son asked me to help him lay a manufactured interlocking wood floor, so nothing finished right now.

Thanks for the forum.

Kewl, This means that I have to start using my Jet Mini, the grinder and Wolverine Jig, and bowl blanks I cut last year... :p

Looking forward to being in the VORTEX. :D

When the turning forum was proposed, this second time, I didn't think it would make much of a difference in my Creek experince. This new forum has made for me a HUGE difference for me.

Thank you VERY much

Being a newbie, I don't know if this has been discussed before. I just finished reading a thread about turning corncobs into pens and I know people are making Freedom Pens out of Corian. I suspect that there are some "radical" souls out there who turn materials other than wood. Maybe this forum should just be named "Turner's Forum"??

Charlie,

Start your new message and at the bottom of the screen is the manage attachments button. Try it out, if it doesn't work the first time you can edit your post and try again. Don't use the preview button when you are attaching pictures.

I notice that some messages posted on the turning forum show up on the new Posts list while others don't. Is there a reason for this?

The rules for selecting New Posts are the same on each of the forums.. There is however a 45 minute window--once you are inactive for 45 minutes, all of your posts will be marked as read.

I suggest that once you click on new posts, go through the search results SHIFT+CLICKing on the threads you want to read. In IE, this will open the threads in a new window. This way, you can quickly run through the New Posts, mark the forums read, and then find the posts that changed since you started reading.

Aaron: What a great tip.....wish I had known that a hundred years ago!!!
Being a self-taught Win user, I wonder how many other neat little tricks there are that I have missed. Guess I ought to sit down with a book.....but when I get free time, sitting at the lathe is more appealing than sitting with a book???

As an example I have posted a couple messages on the turning forum and they have never shown up on the New Post list when I log on. Doesn't really matter. I was just curious.

It could also be your ISP or browser cache getting involved; there are some threads in the Support Forum on how to resolve problems with New Posts not showing up.

Keith,

Glad you got the same first name and thanks for the turners forum.

Thank you; glad to join this group. Until I figure out how to maneuver through this, I'll kick it off with this; I have owned the Pro 4 ft'r and 8 ft'r Tru-Grip Professional Clamping Straight Edge Guide for many years; I have been unable to locate the saw guide that accompanied this guide. Any suggestions?

Jose, what does this have to do with wood turning? I'm missing something.

It has nothing to do with wood turning; as I stated, I'm new to this forum and don't know where to post a comment/question.

Your point is what? Spam? I asked a simple question about a saw plate.

Jose, until you learn how to maneuver around, forums, particularly large ones like SMC can be confusing. Go over to our General Woodworking & Power Tools forum to ask your question: https://sawmillcreek.org/forumdisplay.php?3-General-Woodworking-and-Power-Tools

Our main page lists all the different forum categories: https://sawmillcreek.org/forum.php

I would also suggest you look at the dates of posts. In this case the last post in this thread was made 14 years ago.
