A friend of mine dropped off a couple of pieces of wood for me. It looks like it will be some incredible looking wood. Neither of us knew what it was though. The tree had no leaves left when he took it down. Here are some pictures of it.

Can anyone identify this? The heartwood has those lines/rings through the middle of it. They range in color from a burgandy to a blood red. Any idea's would be greatly appreciated. The photos are bad but its from my phone in the garage.
Whatever its is called, it will be Christmas ornaments next year. I can't wait for it to dry. I think it will look incredible with some purpleheart or bloodwood finails.
Thanks Kirk
