Thanks. I do like the color of the alder. It doesn't show in the photo, but some of the grain takes on a sort of greenish hue with BLO.

Solid build and brings back memories of early days when I worked with mostly knotty pine. I have ample sources of alder at my supplier but have never used any yet as I seem to be stuck on hard-wood. But.. that does look nice and cozy and especially for a kitchen so...

Its close but maybe a slightly different color for the top. I am assuming you used alder there too?

No, the top is oak. I thought alder would be too soft. I had planned to use maple, but didn't have enough.

Thanks. I was thinking that perhaps the endgrain on the alder might have been hard enough.

that isn't the natural alder color is it? what was your coloring method?
