I recently made a humidor out of Bird's Eye Maple - only needed 1/2 inch on that build - so, I laminated the resaw waste on to a piece of regular maple....and came up with this little gem.... Contrasting Jatoba is left over from the book shelf that the box is sitting on....

"Gem" is right, Ed. That is beautiful. Nothing goes to waste in your shop, does it? Scrap wood, cigar labels...

You know, one of these days, you should post something completely horrible. Just to make the rest of us feel better about ourselves. :D :D :D

Another great build!! Good use of "scrap", Ed.

Question on the corner splines - could you cut through the same kerf, and have the appearance of an "X" in the corner? This one is almost there.

Just wonder what a couple, maybe three, "X's" would look like on a corner - like it was laced up? BTW, what are you doing up so early!!!????

Well - this one does have the appearance of an "X"... but, you have to be looking at it dead on. If you're standing above it, it looks like a "K".... strange how that works out optically. It would have looked better, if I cut through the same kerf - and, that's what I was going for, but...working with the angles like that get's me a little screwy eyed... I like the idea of "zipping up the sides.... I will have to try that on one of my next builds.

I'm an early riser - built in alarm system usually gets me up at 5am...
Plus.... I'm excited about another busy day in the shop! Lots going on there at the moment.....

Sweet! I love it. Great work. I really like the idea of using the cigar bands. That gives me some ideas.....

Another jewel built with diamonds from the rough. Excellent job and I absolutely love the idea of using cigar bands on the top which catches my attention immediately when viewing.

Go get em hoss...
