Not only did I score on the load of spalted maple, but got home and my wife said you have a box in the garage from UPS.

These came from Mike Smith in N. Car. Some beautiful stuff!!! I am unbelievably excited over all this wood.

And, this morning, got a call from a trucking company and this is what they brought me -:D:D:D

I guess we won't be hearing from John for a while, huh?

Enjoy the lathe and all of that wood you have been piling up.

Oh, better order a bunch of CA for that punky wood. It just might become your new friend.

Boy John barely over 2 weeks into the new year and you have had a good year already. Turns me a little green to see all that great wood. Looking forward to some great turnings. Congrats on a great lathe, hope it's all you expected.

Congratulations John! That looks like some beautiful wood. You must be up to your eyeballs in wood by now.

And congratulations on the lathe! You posted that about 5 hours ago, so I hope - no, no, no, I expect - you are also up to your eyeballs in wood chips! :D

Thanks, guys for sharing my gloats! You all are a great bunch, and I appreciate your acceptance of this old flatworker into your midst!

Couldn't stand it any longer, and I went to the shop last nite and played on the new Delta. It is everything that has been said about it. Quiet, smooth, and very pleasant to use.

Now, I gotta get busy on a bowl to give to the owner of the "mine" where I got the spalted maple!! He has told me that he will be on the lookout for more wood with "squirrely grain!" One must take care of those sources!
