Red Gum HF

[Keith Burns]

Love this wood ! Measures 4-1/2" dia. x 4-1/2" to the top of the lid then add another 3-3/16" for the finial. Walls are -1/8". Added a red gum insert to the lid and finial. Put an ebony foot on this one but it doesn't show up very good. The smallest part of the finial is .06". Finish is antique oil and buffed. The fun part in turning this one was using the vacuum chuck to finias turn the bottom. Thanks for looking and comment/critiques welcome.

Absolutely beautiful. The redgum has such a rich look to it... It almost looks like the piece has been around for a number of years. The form is very pleasing to my eye, and the foot and finial add to, rather than detract from, the overall piece. This piece will definitely serve as inspiration for me down the road.
