View Full Version : I Must be a really slow learner...

I've been working on the Router T Square Bill Hylton mentions on page 236/7 of his book on routers. I want to cut the hardwood strip he uses when placing the T Square. Using his method, I gather I cut one of these setup gauges for each router and bit I use as they can differ. I've learned, the hard way, that this gauge must be somewhat greater than half the width of your router base plate in order to be the correct width for trimming. Boy, did that make me feel like a fool! However, you hold this on the bench top with double faced carpet tape. Did I buy the wrong type? It's going to take me longer to clean off the carpet tape from the gauge than it is to do the routing. I hate to ask such a basic question but maybe someone will have some sympathy and help me out.
Thanks
Ron
