Does anyone on the creek own this apron? http://www.woodcraft.com/Product/2001976/7830/WOODCRAFT-Ballistic-Apron.aspx if so, please comment on your likes and dislikes. I like the idea of the straps resting on the shoulders rather than the neck. Feel free to voice or link to your favorite apron. I have one apron and one waist belt and neither thrill me. All input welcome.

I have one and I've been using for over a year now. It's OK, but nothing amazing. I too like that the straps are on the shoulders. But I do think the straps are a little thin. And the apron is little short. It takes a more time to put on because you have to thread the straps through D-rings on each side, then tie it in the back.

I plan to replace that apron with a denim apron soon. A couple of the pockets are blown out.

Nick, I just purchased the apron from Rockler. It is denim, and the straps rest on the shoulder. The waist strap snaps. It is easy to take off and on. Just got it, and so far I like it.

Pat; a little disappointing that the pockets are blowing out and it's just over a year old. That would be a con.

Sam; could you give me a better idea which apron you chose?

Thanks for the input guys; I'll keep an eye out for other responses before I make a decision.

I bought the cheap version of the Woodcraft apron and brought it back. The cheap one goes around the neck and was very stiff.

I returned it and got the Rockler one like Sam is describing. Excellent. It goes around the shoulder and clips in the back. It's nice and flexable also.

Highly recommended!

Nick, the one I have is item #53748 Cross-Back Shop Apron. The INTERNET price is 21.99. I think I paid 24.99 at the store. I looked at their leather one. The pockets were to small on the leather apron, my tape and hand would not fit. So far I like the denim one.

I like the looks of this one: http://www.hartvilletool.com/product/12227

Here is a drawing with better details

They don't make one to my scale, so my wife is ending those two pictures, measurements, and money for material to her sister to get one made. Thinking it will be denim.

My new favorite apron is from Lee Valley:
http://www.leevalley.com/wood/page.aspx?c=2&p=57647&cat=1,43413,45989

It fits very close to the body and doesn't hang up or get in the way like some other aprons, but what I like best about it are the two main pockets. They are big and have side entries that stay closed and don't collect sawdust or other debris. About the only thing I would change would be the top pockets. I would make a couple more of them, narrow and vertical for pencils, and make the center tape measure pocket a little deeper and with a velcro flap to keep my tape measure from falling out when I bend over. Otherwise a great apron.

The Rockler denim apron is great, although the pockets do collect a lot of sawdust. It is very comfortable and can be tossed in the washing machine when you can't stand the dirt anymore (about once a year for me). It is often on sale for less than $20. I tried to find similar aprons for a club to use but could not find anything as sturdy and well made for less than the Rockler price.
