Hello! Great forum and looking forward to contributing!

Here is my most recently finished piece - a console table for our breakfast area. It is painted an orangey-red color and then antiqued with Valspar Asphaltium. The top row consists of 6 individual drawers while the second and third rows are two drawers each made to appear to be six. The resolution got wacked when I converted them to jpg, but you can still kind of see the antiquing....

Wood is pine with birch drawer construction.

Thanks!

Here is a carft table and chairs set I built for my son. All joints are mortise and tenon. Making four of those chairs about drove me crazy :)

Wood is poplar except for the top which is 3/4" birch wrapped in poplar.

Here is an island I built for my mother's kitchen. It is stained to match her cabinets. The top is faux marble, compliments of my very artistic wife.

Wood is spruce except for the top which is 3/4" birch.

Here's a display case I built for my wife. I built a similar one for my mother-in-law and she had to have one... The finish is black with gold-leafing. The glass is the doors is "bubble" glass I got at a local stained-glass window shop.

Wood is pine.

This is a coffee table I built for the wife. Finish is distressed black. The interior of the drawers is blown-in soft-flock. Color is wine, but it shows up purple in the pictures.

Wood is pine and spruce.

Here is a night stand I built for our bedroom suit. I built two of these and the queen-sized bed. Finish is distressed black. The bed has raised panels which are suede leather over high-density furniture foam.

My current project is a matching entertainment center for the bedroom.

Wood on all the pieces is poplar.

Too many for this old mind to evaluate and comment on individually Chad but... you have done a great job over the past 4 years working with the soft-woods you have used. My personal favorite of the lot is the display case.

Welcome and keep up the good work...

Chad, welcome to the creek. Some very nice work there. I particularly like the display case with the gold leaf.

Do have a question, though. How is it you still have possession of a hope chest made for a high school girlfriend??? Did she throw it at you during the breakup??:D;) Just kiddin' ya!!

John, the trunk picture was taken in my parent's kitchen back in '92 or so. I bump into my ex occassionally. I need to ask her if she still has it :)

Thanks all for the compliments. I try something new each project I do, so they have all had their challenges for me.

I have very limited access to wood around here (box stores mainly), so I work with what I can get my hands on. Years back I got some rough-cut oak from a buddy and built a hutch out of it. It had worm holes and all kinds of defects, but in the end it turned out great.

The display case is one of the first things you see when you enter our front door. I think the wife likes it too :)

I've got more pictures I'll post on a new thread .

Thanks all. I appreciate the positive comments. I'm working on an entertainment center to go with the bed/nightstands. I'll try to get a picture of it up soon.
