I'm putting this on my PM2700 shaper and I want to make sure it is powerful enough and has enough reach. I can't get a good enough resolution picture of the brochure on the Steff 2033 power feeder to make out how much horizontal reach it has.

I'm attracted to it because it has 8 speeds, starting at a very slow 9 fpm. It's only .6 hp, however.

I can get it for $850 delivered.

If I could get the Powermatic PF 31 for that price I'd take it, because I know that it has enough horizontal reach (18"). Plus it is pretty gold.

Hi Cameron,

I bought one, set it up and ran it for a minute... and returned it for a 2038. The main issue I had was the speed range; the 2033 has 8 speeds but only a few are slow enough to be useful whereas the 2038 has a more versatile range. Additionally, the reach on the 2033 is quite a bit less than the 2038. The only downside was cost, if I remember correctly the upcharge was about $300.

John,

I was afraid it's reach was a bit short. Thank you for the good information. The 2033 is now out.

May I ask where you got your 2038?

I got it from Woodshop Machines in NH, they got it from the importer in Long Beach(?) CA. The name of the importer is WMD (wmdusa.com). +The website looks out of date regarding pricing, but all of the model info is there.
