I have a Tradesmen drill press and lost the chuck key.

Where can I buy a replacement? I tried the universal keys and others but they dont fit.

Would a Tradesmen chuck key be equivalent to a more common brand such as Jet.

Thanks for any tips.

Hi, normally a chuck will have an identifying number on it, which can then be used at an industrial suplier to cross reference to a chuck key #.

its a Tradesman 8075 with 5/8 chuck jacobs RJ3-16L using 5/16 pilot hole I purchased in 1995. I bought everything I could find locally but all dont fit and use 1/4 pilot.

Any thoughts where online I could purchase a key?

Jay, try ereplacementparts.com. They are a sponsor here.

If erereplacments can't help, try either MSC or McMaster Carr's online sotres. Both should have a replacment key.

All that they should need is the Jacobs Chuck number.

I would think that you could take those numbers from the chuck and go to a
good, local mom and pop hardware store and they should have one in stock
that would work. If they don't have one, a big orange or blue box store
most likely would have one. I bought a Tradesman belt/disc sander from
from Lowe's a few years back and they should have a connection for replacement parts for those machines.
