I am making a Greene and Greene style side table, and am contemplating the cloud lifts. I plan to bandsaw the rough shape, but am wondering what the best way is to finish the final shape. I own spoke shave, and am itching to use it. Is this the best way? Or should I make a template and use a flush trim bit? Is it six of one and half a dozen of the other?
Also, would dowels be strong enough to hold such a thing together? Or am I better off with pegged M&T joints? Bear in mind I have a very active, very tall 3.5 year old with ASD, so it needs to be able to withstand her standing on it, on the off chance she gets it into her head to try that.
Thanks in advance.
