Dennis - that is what got me howling - coupla' "dudes" sitting around, thinking this up, then calculating and graphing acceleration, velocity, apogee and the ignition-span in milliseconds, and predicting a point-first landing. And it DID - dead-nuts point first hit.

I should mention, though, for those that are considering this particular disposal method, that there are costs involved. 32 D-size model rocket motors are going to set you back about $100. I'm thinking that a tube and some black powder might achieve the same result for much less...
