Curly Maple Lamp

Just picked up my lamp today. Built for me by a fellow woodworker. I supplied the curly maple, he did the woodworking, and his wife makes the glass shades. I think it's a keeper!

The edges look as though there is a corner piece of some other wood - is that an illusion? That would be a neat method to add a contrasting element to a piece. Need to remember that.

The edges have a thin strip of cherry. The curly maple had a little gap at the edge after glue-up that was unexpected so a groove was routed and a strip of cherry was added.

Very nice design John. Great curl on that maple.
Even though the cherry strips were used for a save they sure add a lot to the piece.
