Opinions on this motor setup?

I just got my Jet mini back from the friend who borrowed it a couple of years ago. Guess what? Won't turn on. He says it was fine the last time he used it. Whatever; lesson learned. An electric motor place is checking it out to see what's wrong.

If it turns out to be the motor, what do you think of this (http://www.pennstateind.com/store/TCLVSKIT.html) as a replacement? My Jet doesn't have VS, and i wondered how this would do.

does your non working motor have 1/2 hp or 3/4 hp?

Pretty sure it's 1/2 hp.

Darned if I remember where I read it but a gent gave a review of this PS upgrade and after a month or two he was still delighted with it. Good luck...Bill...

Jet used to have a vs upgrade kit also. Not sure of the price though.

I've heard that it was a good upgrade... only con was the lowest speed... however that may be taken care of by use of different pulleys. Just a thought.
