I have a Vicmarc VL100 bench model, that I carry with me when I travel. I normally use it sitting on the tailgate of my truck. Sometimes my truck has to be parked in a position that isn't conducive to turning at the tailgate.:(
I would like to make a folding table that is lightweight as possible, yet still sturdy enough to hold the lathe. :confused:
Does anyone have any plans, links, photos, or ideas that I might try?
Thanks in advance, for any and all help.:)

The mini lathes fit pretty nice on a Workmate. Those things that are part vise and part sawhorse. A couple of large C clamps hold the two firmly.

Hey Allen,
I remember one of our members here asking for info regarding a folding Delta stand. A quick google search yielded this http://www.amazon.com/Delta-36-136-Universal-Miter-Stand/dp/B0009WFYLY/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top
You could use the stand as a basis for your own design.

I then googled 'folding work bench plans' and found this website... http://www.toolcrib.com/blog/2008/03/10/toolcribcoms-ultimate-guide-to-free-woodworking-workbench-plans/. (http://www.toolcrib.com/blog/2008/03/10/toolcribcoms-ultimate-guide-to-free-woodworking-workbench-plans/)

I hope this helps you out and be sure to keep us posted. I want to see what you come up with.

Glenn

Hi;

Not sure if you are a member of the AAW but in their last issue of "American Woodturner" (Winter 2009 Vol 24, No. 4) there is a great article with plenty of photos and some tech info on a mobile lathe cabinet built and used by the Pueblo Woodturners club

Al, Glenn, and Ron, Thanks for the help, and the links. I'd not thought about the Workmate before for that, and after checking out the links, and the Workmate 225... I was thinking about modifying that plywood crosspiece bench to fit my needs, but it'll cost as much for the plywood, as for the workmate 225. So, I think I'll opt for the 225.
Thanks again!!
