Looking for suggestions for a reputable place online to buy bowl blanks.
Thanks in advance.

I have good luck at ebay. The price is right -- if you don't get caught up in the bidding process. I just place a bid for the most that I am willing to pay, which is always a lot less than I can buy it for on line, and forget about it. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, but I have gotten blanks for .99 cents plus that awful shipping charge.

Steve,
I have ordered several bowl blanks from www.turningblanks.net (http://www.turningblanks.net). They don't have any exotics and most is wet, but the quality is very high, the cost is pretty low and the service is great.

+1 for www.turningblanks.net (http://www.turningblanks.net/).

Steve,
You don't say where you are located or what species you might be looking for. I have never purchased a bowl blank because there is so much free wood around. Shipping of anything that doesn't fit in a flat rate box is a killer.

Another vote for www.turningblanks.net (http://www.turningblanks.net/). I get a lot of my bowl blanks there when I don't have any free wood around. His blanks are excellent.

Steve,

I have purchased some great blanks from Mike Smith at EasternNCWoodworkers.com Mike is extremely knowledgeable, very friendly...his email is mikescustommill@hotmail.com, Cell: 252-230-3109
His prices beat alot of items on ebay and shipping is reasonable.

Check my earlier posting on SMCreek-english/claro walnut bowl.

Thanks to all for taking the time to respond. I will check those places out.
Ted,
Sorry I neglected to fill out my location information when I registered. I have taken care of that. I live in Westmoreland, NH and I do not have a particular project in mind but would be looking for domestic hardwood and maybe some exotics.

Steve,
You might check with firewood suppliers or tree services in the local area. I have an arborist friend that keeps me supplied and my county also has a yard waste recycling center where they make mulch. I can scrounge log sections there for $10 a pickup load.
