i am trying to figure out something other than mortise and tenon joinery for a small table i am making.

ive seen floating tops, but am not sure how to get the legs and aprons connected properly.

are there other options? perhaps the aprons connected like a frame, then the leg set into the inside corners?

thanks!

The commercial way of doing that is to attach the apron pieces to the top with pocket screws, leaving a gap at each corner. Then the leg is put in between two apron pieces, with a metal piece (like a corner block) behind it. A large lag screw is put through the metal piece into the leg and pulls the leg into the two apron parts.

Not my idea of fine furniture but it does work.
