Hi all. I was wanting to make a multi pass guide rail jig for my Jet 13" planer molder, rather than spending $250.00 for one. I was thinking of UHMW for the base as well as the two guides. My thinking is low friction coefficient, easy to machine, and it won't hurt the molding blades. My concern is whether or not it will be flat and rigid enough. Also, is it the UHMW "polyethylene" I am wanting? Might make the search easier if I knew exactly what to call it. Thanks in advance.:)
