Finally got around to mounting the Gramercy saw vice and trying it.
First, let me say I'm very much a beginner saw sharpener.
All my previous attempts left much to be desired. Thought it was me.
But now, I think it may have been the old no-name vice I had tried.
This new vice basically eliminated all the vibrations I had earlier and I actually was successful in sharpening a small Jackson backsaw. I cuts fast and straight. I compared the cut to my custom Medallion Tool Works backsaw (both rip) and while not as good as the Medallion I have confidence that with a bunch more practice I will get better.
Thank you Joel. Well worth the money.
