View Full Version : Box with ebony pedestal and finial

Two days ago I asked for critiques on the walnut pedestal and finial on this box. After reading the wonderful advice on the walnut practices ones, I turned the ebony and glued them to the box, 11" x 5" antique oil finish. Once again all comments welcomed, and thanks for the help.

Ron, I thought the walnut looked great with it, but man, the ebony really sets off the beautiful wood in that bowl/box. Very, very nice, and IMO, you nailed the changes in the finial and pedestal - the whole piece works!!

I have to agree with John and Steve. While I liked the first one, the subtle differences really make the finished piece brilliant. Beautifully done.

Looks spectacular! Nice work with the "tweaks" -- makes it just that much better. Definitely a piece for a contest or gallery.
