I was thinking about purchasing this saw. It is listed from Woodcraft for 800 right now. For those of you that have this make and model...I am looking to make a number of chairs with the saw. I will will be cutting in end grain making curves. Is this a saw that is going to track well or should I step it up and buy something more robust? Is this saw all that you thought it would be? Any concerns that should hold me back?

Thanks,

John Grabowski

I have this saw and it is more than I ever thought it would be. I love it. For the price, fit/function it was better than any other saw setting on the floor the day I picked mine up.

John, I have this saw and have done everything from tight curves to resawing 12+ inches of every hard wood out there...if I had to buy a new saw today it would be the same one

I also love mine (14" deluxe) and a few months after I bought it, one of the mags said it was the best 14" bandsaw, so that made me happy.

Thanks All...Sounds like this one is a winner...I will have to wait till tax time and then make it happen... I really appreciate all your insight and I look forward to working with my new saw.

Thanks Again,

A few days ago I came across Rikon Bandsaws on Sears website. You may want to check models and prices, however, I remember being surprised at the 599.00 selling price.

Frank

I'll bet that the $599 price was for the 10-320 Bandsaw and not the 10-325 Deluxe Bandsaw.

HUH! How could I quote Frank's posting before he posted it? Computers, don't ya just love um. :D

Sears has two 14" Rikon bandsaws, the deluxe version is $799.99 and the other one is $499.99

+7. I bought the 10-325 almost a year ago and really like it. I haven't resawn over 6" though. The guides are a little touchy to set up but they work OK.

For the price there is no 14" BS I would rather have (shame you missed the 699 sale Woodcraft had around Thanksgiving) and the only 14" BSs I have used I would rather have are the PM and the Laguna but you are talking $200 more for the PM and significantly more for the Italian stallion. However, may I throw a monkey wrench in the cavalcade of 10-325 love and point out the Grizzly G0513 is only $50 more and it is a 17" saw with a 2hp motor. The negatives with the Griz are aluminum wheels, steel table trunnion and 1" less resaw but not sure I would be trying to resaw 13" wood with only 1 1/2 HP, the cast trunnion is nice but the vast majority of my BS cuts are with the table flat and the extra 1/2hp probably makes up for the cast iron wheels mass so assuming the Al wheels on the Grizzly are indeed true I think the negs are no big deal. So depending on the shipping and sales tax issues the 513 might be an attractive option. Assuming sales tax on neither the worst possible senario is the Griz costs you $140 more shipped (Amazon has the Rikon at 799 plus free shipping). Even at that price difference I would seriously consider the G0513.
