This is a European pen kit from CSUSA. The wood is box elder burl and I finished it with CA and boiled linseed oil. Thanks for looking!

Hard to believe that is your first pen. You mastered the CA finish on the first try also. The sky is the limit for you sir. Very well done. Keep the pen. I wish I had my first one still. Thanks for showing.

Don't know much about pens, but it certainly is pretty! That wood is beautiful - I do know pretty wood when I see it!!:D

The first try was a mess. I tried to apply the CA without BLO, and it went on real sticky, with the paper towel fibers adhering to the finish. Then I sanded it off and tried William O Young's CA/BLO method, and it worked really well for me. Here is a video of the finishing technique I used:

Everyone develops their own methods over time. I prefer to use CA alone and have good success this way. The key is put it on and walk away. Do not play with it or it will dry on you and be a sticky mess as you found out. Good luck and hope to see more of your work in the future.

Having admired your previous work, I am not surprised to see such a great product on your first effort. Great job!

Wow, great looking pen. Very nice job on the CA/BLO. I also liked William Young's technique.

I'm not usually a fan of BLO but this is very striking!

Very nice job. Don't use it in public or you'll find yourself making a whole bunch more.

Fine looking pen Joe. I agree if you use it in public you will be making pens. I just use the CA and not the BLO with it. I take a old T-Shirt and make one stroke across the pen as I am applying the CA. I then hit it with accelerator. I then use 600 to smooth it and do it again. Works well.
