I am working on a bowl that was turned from a full round with the pith in, as is typical the pith sent out radiating cracks. This was an effort in filling, but made easier as the piece was also heavily spalted. I did have one problem though I was unable to turn the slight recess for the foot allowing the bowl to move and still seat firmly on a flat surface. Any suggestions for some kind of "footer" would be great. I was thinking maybe brass or wooden balls, but looking for other options. Any suggestions?

How about turning a thin ring of wood the diameter of the foot of the bowl, and gluing it on? Turned down to something like 1/16" or 1/8" it should conform to the bottom of the bowl when glued on, and would leave a center recess so it would sit flat.

Glass beads and copper or brass brads to attach it.

Ken, that is a great idea, thank you.
