Hi:
I have posted a new video series on Youtube. This one is about turning a scoop similar to the one that Soren Berger demonstrates on the Woodworking Channel website. The playlist is available at: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=7AE95805E44A955E

Take care
Bob

Bob,

Thank you for making the video. I like your chucking method. I think it's a definite improvement.

Thanks, too, for the link to the Berger video. I re-watched it after watching yours. Did you notice how much he accomplishes with his spindle roughing gouge? He roughed most of the sphere with the SRG and he also used it for most of the shaping of the handle. It's interesting to see how other turners use their tools.

Great design and process, Bob.

On the video you said you mounted Oneway flat jaws in your SN2 chuck. I notice on the Oneway web site there are 3 flavors of the jaws here:
http://oneway.ca/chucks/accessories/flat_jaws.htm
The Oneway chuck, the Talon chuck, and the Stronghold chuck.
Which one fits the SN2?
Do the the jaws fit without any fiddling or modification?

Thanks again for your well thought out work, and patient thorough presentation. I enjoy each one of your projects and especially your laconic presentation.

Thanks, everyone!

Jer, the jaw sets for the Oneway basic and Talon chucks are interchangeable. If you check that link you will see that the part number for the flat jaws is the same for the basic and Talon chucks. I don't have a Stronghold chuck so I don't know what the difference is about the Stronghold jaws, but any of my jaw sets for my basic or Talon chucks will fit on the SN2. The only thing required to allow using them is to remove the little roll pin that sticks out the back of one of the jaws. On Oneway chucks the roll pin engages a slot milled into the front of the chuck body to limit the jaw travel, but Nova chucks don't have the slot and use a different method for limiting jaw travel.

Take care
Bob
