I made a Maple and Mahogany blanket chest for my sister for Christmas. She was supposed to get my Mom's maple cedar chest but it got burnt up in a fire at my fathers house that took his life. So now 3 years later I built her this chest which was my first big project and it utilized Mahogany that came from my Grandfathers boat yard that he sold in the late 1940's. It was slighty emotional, but I think she really loves it. To make it I utilized a set of plans but changed the plywood panels to raised panels and I think it turned out really great.

Great project, wonderful heritage to the piece, and a first rate helper in the pic!! I am sure your sister is appreciative beyond what she has stated, and her memories will only increase.

Love the design and the wood and the thoughts that went into it.
