While some flatwork was obviously involved, I turned this maple and walnut cutting board round on my Jet lathe. About 2" thick, 12.5" diameter. This one is for the wife & I - the step-dau has a square one I made her for XMAS, shown in the Woodworking Projects forum. :)

Nicely done, what do you finish this with. Is there some sort of special finish that is meant for taking a beating from knives and such.

Alex, thanks for asking - forgot to post that. I have always used Salad Bowl Finish on all my stuff that will come into contact with food. Don't know if it helps the wood survive knives and such. Maybe someone else here will post another product that works well. My containers of that finish always get sticky near the lid, the lid never fits well after one or two openings, and I end up throwing away half of the stuff, though - drag.
