Hope everyone had a very merry Christmas!. The pic in this thread http://sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=128194 is one of a pair of corner shelves I built for the game room. They'll be right next to a pool table and will see lots of wet cans/bottles on them. What would you recommend for a finish that will not only be durable but not show water marks. Thanks in advance!

A non-poly varnish, both top and bottom. 3-4 brush on coats or 9-12 wipe-on coats. Waterlox original in satin would be my choice.

Waterlox or Behlen's Rockhard are my two choices for a brush or wipe on finish.

If you can spray a finish you open up a lot of choices but either of the above will be fantastic and very durable.

Thanks, I've used rockhard before and really liked it. I've never used it in an application where it would get wet from beer cans though, so I wasn't sure about it's ability to resist water stains.

It will be just fine...
