I hope everyone had a good Christmas!

I just finished turning some replacement handles for a wood stove out of Sycamore. I am unsure of what to use for a finish. Any suggestions? I was thinking just leaving it raw.

Interesting project! I would be a little concerned with the wood drying out due to the heat from the stove and cracking. Maybe some form of an oil finish to soak in and seal the wood. Looking forward to seeing photos of the project once finished.

make sure that the finish is fire proof,, the handles on my stove can get very hot...
but we took ours off, so the handle is removable and you dont burn your hand

I agree with Steve on some type of oil finish. How hot will they get Keith? I would think maybe one or two coats of Antique Oil or Danish oil might work.

Third vote for oil. Saturate the heck out of it. Also, the stoves that I've used that have wooden handles all had the option of removing the handle while the stove was in use. I'd opt for that....
