My birthday is 2 days after XMAS - sometimes good, sometimes bad... Anyways, here's what I got this time (from AustralianBurls in Virginia) - six red malee burls, and 1 salmon gum. They are in my 'wood closet' in the house, acclimating, and waiting until I am a better turner. Don't want to waste them. (oh, yeah - 52 years young this year! :p).

Mike, that's awesome. You get much better birthday presents than I get... Maybe I could have your better half talk to my better half. You've got much more will power than I have... I'd turn them ASAP

Mike, Those look great! Should be some fancy things hiding in there.

That is some wild lookin' wood!! Not sure an old man can handle that kind of burl!!:D;) Better do it now - before you get any older! Happy B'day - 5 hours early.

I have my burls that I am saving and I don't know if I will ever be confident enough to get to them.

Happy Birthday!

Congrats on the burls and Happy Birthday. I turned 52 4 days before Christmas so I understand the sometimes good, sometimes bad comment.

No matter when your birthday is those are really nice presents. Birthdays are fun and always glad to have another one.

happy birthday Mike. Looks like you have some good stuff to work with. Very sharp tools and little bites.

Mike, The burls you recieved for your birthday are quite nice! But not waiting to see what is inside at least one of them would be a good thing! If we all wait to get better we would do nothing, as we all get better with age!!! Happy birthday and a Happy new year too.

Very cool Mike. Congratulations. :)

I am looking forward to your future posts with these - especially the one to the far right in the first two photos. My wife got me one that was shaped like that, but I'm not sure what to do with it. I really don't want to ruin it.
