The roofing supply company delivered my cedar shingles for my shed this morning. I knew the guy was going to order me some nails, but a 50 pound box??? The nails are 7d 2.5", there is probably 50,000 nails in that box!!

Anyhow... does anyone know how many pounds of nails it will take to put up 2.5 squares of cedar shingles??

Thanks!

Dan

Dan,
With my limited experience with cedar shingles, I can't see it taking more than a 5 pound box. 50 pounds! Are you shingling the whole neighborhood? :D

Dan, somewhere I remember hearing/reading that cedar shingles are like 400 per square. This is from memory (which is fading fast), so this could all be totally wrong. Be if it's right, then that's 800 nails per square, so 2000 nails for 2.5 squares. I think whether I'm close or not, 50,000 nails is A LOT of over kill. Was this the minimum order?

Be well,

Doc
