All the bits arrived today to let me use the big mustard beast. The result is a couple of firsts for me: my first item turned on the PM, my first bell ornament, my first "funnel" that came from the first attempt at a handle.

This is purpleheart with ebony handle.

I thought that if you got a big lathe that you should turn something big. Your bell looks great!

It is big. There's nothing to show scale in the pic. That's because the bell is nearly 3 feet in diameter and over 15 feet long!!! ;)

Nice work. Is that a bead as the clapper? Looks great.

Very nice bell! What is this, kind of like a new car, have to be real gentle the first few hundred turns?;)
Have a great Christmas and I know you will enjoy that lathe!

Very nice work on the bell Greg! Real nice wood combination!

So, did the lathe live up to your expectations?

Yes it is. There is a glass bead with a "diamond" rondel above it. On the top of the handle is a another rondel with a green swarovski crystal above that. Yes, my wife collaborated. :D

Well, in theory, yes. But I have to get some big wood first. All my supplies are Jet 1014 sized.
