I needed a new router table (more about that below). I had saved the June '09 Popular Woodworking because it had a plan for what appeared to be a solid, straightforward table without any unnecessary bells and whistles. I made one more or less according to the plan (I made it a couple of inches larger), and here's how it turned out:

While I was messing around with the router table I made a mortise gauge out of some scrap ash I had. It's not fancy, but it seems to work fine. (It's got a coat of medium walnut Watco on it since it was handy.) I'll probably eventually put cutters in the place of the points I'm using now, but it works OK for the time being.

The reason I needed a new router table was because I sold my Grizzly cabinet saw which had my big router mounted in the side table. Here is what replaced it:
